To set 12 hour format in KDE I think you can change the setting as shown in the attached picture (sorry I took the screenshot from my italian installation). This is the Country and Language dialog which you can find in the KDE settings panel or by a search in KDE main menu.

Hi. The rolling release is always evolving, or updating at least 🙂

For German you need to install kde-l10n-de and libreoffice-i18n-de, then setup the environment accordingly (e.g. through KDE dialog).

It is by the way a good idea to add German language as a boot choice in multilingual livedvd, so this change should appear in the next snapshot release which is due tonight or soon, if all goes well.

openmamba uses smart as lower level package manager, which doesn’t have deltarpm support (see also https://bugs.launchpad.net/smart/+bug/245428 ) and smart itself is not really supported anymore. So supporting deltarpm implies changing default update manager to e.g. yum. Although changing to a more supported and recent package manager would be convenient, this is a major change which will require a lot of time before being supported, at least for what I can do these times.

This has not been planned so far. By the way deltarpm is now available as a package in devel repository and I’ll need to evaluate the compatibility with openmamba updates management infrastructure, this will take a long time or maybe not. Meanwhile, thank you for suggesting.

sorry this must be a bug that happens when installation tool is started two or more times after booting from live cd. Can you just retry starting installation tool and installation just after booting?

I wonder what driver you are using now, is your chip know not to be working with open source modeset driver (radeon)?

Anyway you have to install xorg-drv-video-fglrx, then check that driver is installed and compiled correctly with sudo dkms status, then remove /etc/X11/Xorg.conf and reboot (of course this should be done after installing the system or using livecd on a persistent pendrive).

Both should work, i586 is the traditional most complete and tested architecture, x86_64 is recent in openmamba and lacks some packages which may still require porting (this is not a big problem) plus still lacks some 32bit libraries support for some 32bit only non-free software (like Skype).

Using the livecd you will start from a minimal installation and later you will be able to install from network all (or part of) the components that are in the livedvd.

Here I recommend livecd just to speed-up and simplify download & test for this basic problem.

thanks for taking the time to report the problem and taking the pictures.

Unfortunately the report couldn’t be created because the computer serial number contains ‘/’ which are not escaped by the openmamba-makereport (now fixed for future releases). You may want to retry running openmamba-makereport after editing or deleting the file /etc/sysconfig/machine.

BTW image-1426 shows a X crash while detecting the video driver, this may be caused by the ATI proprietary driver, the report should give further details on the problem by including /var/log/Xorg.*.log files.

Also you might try booting the devel (snapshot) livecd or livedvd releases which contain more up-to-date user-space drivers.

can you access a console by pressing CTRL-ALT-F2? If so you might try to generate a system report with the openmamba-makereport command, copy the output file outside someway and attach it here or send to reports @ openmamba.org for me to check.

If you fell into a recently seen problem after a kernel upgrade which shows as a kernel error on a black screen, try pressing CTRL-ALT-F2 then CTRL-ALT-F1 to get back to the desktop, then if network works, do a system upgrade and reboot.

yes the bootusb instructions need to be rewritten since 2.0pre3, thank you for reporting.

BTW if you have a working installation of openmamba 2.0pre3 the easiest way to make a live USB pendrive is by using the “usbinstall” tool that you find in the applications menu under System -> openmamba.

There are no preset passwords in openmamba, normally when this happens it’s because of a bug in desktop environment startup. You can press CTRL-ALT-F2 to access a console where you can set a password but that won’t fix the problem. The cause of the problem might be visible in /root/.xsession-errors or you can generate a detailed report by running the command openmamba-makereport and then send the output file to reports@openmamba.org for us to examine it.
