   Requirements
A 32 or 64 bit Personal Computer (PC) compatible with the following minimum features:
  • processor: Intel Pentium III or higher or AMD K6/Duron/Athlon or higher
  • 2 GB of RAM (8 GB are recommended)
  • BIOS or (U)EFI with USB boot support
Additional requirements for system installation:
  • a fixed disk with 20 GB of free space or more
   Preparation
The ISO image file can be used in different ways:
  • Traditionally ISO image file was intented to be burnt on a DVD medium using an appropriate tool and performing the operation by writing the file as "disk image file"
  • The ISO image file can also be used to start openmamba on a virtualization system (e.g. VirtualBox, VMWare)
  • The ISO image file can altro be installed and prepared to boot from a USB storage drive providing storage data persistance by using the "Install openmamba on a USB device" tool which is available from an openmamba desktop.

   Preparation
You may use any operating system providing the dd program to copy the image to a SD or microSD memory card:
  • insert the memory card and identify the corresponding device then replace /dev/sdx with your real device path in the following command
  • run the following command from a console window:
    gunzip -c openmamba-diskimg-raspberrypi-*.img.gz | dd of=/dev/sdx bs=32M
It is possible to use other applications which support the preparation of microSD for Raspberry Pi but in this case you may need to uncompress the archive in gzip format first.

Root filesystem archives:

These archives can be used by advanced users as a base to implement customized installations, for instance for embedded targets, as well as to create Docker base images.

A release of openmamba containing a root filesystem with KDE Plasma desktop environment for installation on different storage media and execution through different boot loaders and kernels.
It is intended for advanced users to make custom installations.

The aarch64 version can work on platforms which meet the following minimum requirements:

  • recent Linux kernel with support for the hardware platform
  • the capability (dependent on the device technology) to boot the kernel and modify its boot options to set for example: root=/dev/sda1 or root=/dev/mmcblk0p1 or root=/dev/mmclbk1p1
  • 4 GB of RAM
  • a storage device supported by the Linux kernel and the device (SD, microSD, USB storage, ..) providing at least 16 GB of space
