can you please explain what you mean with “funny looking screen” when you boot with option 8? Isn’t that a black screen with text messages on it as it is supposed to be?

Hi,

to investigate the problem you might open a bug at bugs.openmamba.org attaching your /var/log/Xorg.0.conf file and the output of ls /etc/alternatives.

Sorry, I don’t have experience on this tool but if you have a test case in linux I might be able to investigate.
