booting openmamba problems

      hi guys

      finally downloaded a copy of openmamba but having problems booting the livecd

      tried default boot option but i get ( kernel panic -not syncling )

      tried option 8 – started doing something but then stopped on funny looking screen

      tried vga=normal with option 8 but done the same as above but little better looking screen

      i have got

      Asus A3G laptop

      ati mobilty radeon 9600 graphics card

      1.7ghz 512 ram

      Hi David, have you sure the copy is correctly downloaded?

      You can test it using the follow command (if you have the iso file on the PC):

      md5sum openmamba-livecd-it-milestone1-1.1.i586.iso

      And to check that you’ve correctly burnt it: (assuming your CD/DVD reader is /dev/hda)

      dd if=/dev/hda bs=2048 count=360036 | md5sum

      in both case the result must be:

      3cb4aa3893f85ca07dadba2235679f3e

      done what you said and the md5sum was the same as you said

      any other ideas

      Hi,

      can you please explain what you mean with “funny looking screen” when you boot with option 8? Isn’t that a black screen with text messages on it as it is supposed to be?

      hi silvan,

      the screen has multi colored vertical lines on it as tho it hasnt picked up my graphics properly.
