ParticipantHi,
After initial system upgrade, I am unable to login from SDDM and cannot unlock session from lock screen. The password is not accepted as valid. I can login to a tty session though, so password is correct. I’ve tried various fixes suggested for similar plasma issues but nothing worked.
I had to delete the entire user and recreate. Then, it worked but not an ideal way to use the system.
Is this a known issue/bug? If not, how do I report it? I tried the “send a report” page but it doesn’t accept name or email so cannot submit.
Thanks.

KeymasterHi,
the password might not be accepted in the graphical section due to a wrong keyboard layout setting if it contains some special characters, have you checked for this?
Then you don’t have the problem any longer after recreating the user? Maybe you changed the password too?
The “Send a report” page seems to work but you need to be logged in the site. -

ParticipantHi Silvan,
Thanks for the reply.
The password is correct because I can login on the tty terminal.
When a create a new account, everything works until I lock my screen, or logout. Then, I cannot use the password.
It is happening in KDE Plasma login screen and lock screen GUI.
Cheers.

KeymasterIn order to check for any low level error returned by the authentication layer you may want to login into a tty console after you got the password rejected, then run:
sudo os-makereport
this will create a report file that you can send for us to inspect.
Or if you have the required console skills you can check for any relevant error (maybe reported by PAM) in the user and system journal with
sudo journalctl -b
orjournalctl -b

ParticipantHello Silvan,
The report contains a lot of data from the system. Let me see if I can get help from Plasma forums for the issue. If not, I’ll send over the system report to you.
Thank you.
