Fatto 🙂 ho rilanciato l’aggiornamento due volte e l’ultima volta l’unico messaggio “allarmante” è stato questo:

Output da glibc-devel-2.11.1-1mamba@i586:

mv: impossibile fare stat di `/usr/include/asm/*’: No such file or directory

(Per essere più preciso, dopo quest’ultimo messaggio ho rilanciato per la terza volta ed è risultato tutto già fatto).

Pare che adesso resti da sistemare il problema dell’audio, cioè il fatto che il KMix non si apre (cliccando vien fuori solo l’icona che saltella sul desktop) e che Audacity e Skype non funzionano.

Caro Ercolinux,

Grazie mille per il pacchetto che mi hai mandato 🙂 ti sto scrivendo da OpenMamba, quindi il problema della connessione è risolto, evviva !

Ho appena finito l’installazione e l’aggiornamento dalla rete, per sicurezza ho anche riavviato;

ti faccio un rapporto il più dettagliato possibile (compatibilmente con la mia memoria):

– Per prima cosa ho rimosso da /usr/sbin il file “pppoe-setup” ivi presente, poi ho trasferito colà il pacchetto che mi hai mandato e l’ho scompattato/installato (sono riuscito a farlo accedendo al sistema da “root”, avevo anche provato con il comando “mv” da terminale ed anche con il tasto dx del mouse, facendo forse un po’ di confusione, perchè mi sono ritrovato con un’altra cartella/sottocartella /usr/sbin creata, che ho eliminato dopo aver spostato nella giusta posizione il file “pppoe-setup”); poi, aprendo la cartella “Home” mi ritrovo creata una cartella “usr”, con dentro “sbin” e dentro quest’ultima il file “pppoe-setup” (se la cestino, la connessione non parte più).

Quindi è presente (non so come), in questo percorso oltre che in /Radice/usr/sbin dove lo avevo posizionato io.

Sono riuscito a compilare da terminale, il modulo “pppoe-setup”, però dando sempre da terminale il comando (da root) “pppoe-start”, la connessione non si avvia. In breve, ho fatto un esperimento che si è rivelato vincente:

1 – terminale/root = comandi:

ifconfig eth0 up

ifconfig 192.xxx.x.x

2 – Start da “RP-PPPoE” utilità grafica. Connesso ! (Ma devo lasciare “RP-PPPoE” minimizzato).

Per quanto riguarda l’aggiornamento base da rete, ho selezionato tutte le caselle disponibili, qualcosa non è andato a buon fine e seguendo quanto ho letto nell’ultima schermata, ti posto quì il log (sono riportati solo i messaggi di errore):

Per quanto riguarda “Cheese” riesco a registrare video, ma sono muti; Audacity non registra niente e se voglio aprire “KMix”, ottengo solo l’icona che zompa un po’ sul desktop e basta.

Mi spiego in sintesi, ma se per caso ti occorrono altri dati, fammi sapere. Allora: da cosa dipende non lo so, ma più o meno per tutte le distro che ho installato l’ unico sistema che mi consente di connettermi ad Internet, è questo (da terminale / root):

1 – ifconfig eth0 up

2 – ifconfig eth0 192.xxx.x.x

3 – pppoe-start (dopo aver fatto la configurazione tramite il comando “pppoe-setup”); questo si riferisce al pacchetto “rp-pppoe”.

Il mio modem o router che sia (presenta 4 porte) è lo SpeedTouch Thomson 546V6, collegato alla macchina tramite cavo ethernet.

Su OpenMamba 2, ho tentato con tutte le applicazioni con interfaccia grafica presenti, ma non ho concluso niente; ritengo quindi che l’ unico sistema valido sia quello che ho indicato prima, ma come già detto, la procedura da terminale non parte.

Immagino che tu stesso possa fare la prova, digitando (da root) “pppoe-setup”; vien fuori l’ avviso che manca il pacchetto “ppp” (lo stesso che risulta presente se tento d’ installare quello con estensione .rpm).

Ho fatto anche la prova (incongrua, temo), d’ installare il pacchetto “rp-pppoe-3.8.tar.gz, ma dopo averlo estratto, la procedura si ferma già al comando “./configure” perchè non sono presenti “gcc”, “cc” ed altri che non ricordo.

Ho provato a cercare su Google, supponendo che installando il compilatore, che a quanto capisco, non è presente su OpenMamba, sia possibile installare i pacchetti che desidero, ma l’unica fonte di download che ho trovato, presenta le versioni specifiche per Debian o per PCLinuxOS, quindi mi sono fermato (il link è questo: http://www.freepenguin.it/gcc-download.html). Io non sono esperto ed adesso sono anche confuso 🙂 Deduco che i pacchetti .tar.gz non sono adatti per OpenMamba; ho scaricato il .rpm che mi hai gentilmente indicato, ma volendolo installare, ricevo la notifica che il pacchetto è già installato !?

Con un certo imbarazzo aggiungo che non capisco la nota a proposito della compilazione di un programma; a cosa ti riferisci, quale programma dovrei compilare ?

E per quanto riguarda il compilatore “cc”, quale / da dove dovrei scaricare ? (Ho provato a fare delle ricerche, ma non ho capito quale posso usare su OpenMamba), e, per cosa lo dovrei usare ?

Mi rendo conto che l’ incompetenza puo’ dare fastidio, sto scrivendo per non piantare in asso la discussione, ma se per qualunque motivo il basso livello delle mie domande si dovesse rivelare fastidioso, lascia stare. Ciao

Grazie per il tuo aiuto; ho seguito il tuo consiglio ed ho disinstallato la “I”, installando la “II”. Adesso ti racconto in che guai mi trovo 🙂

– Connessione Internet: hai ragione tu a proposito del pacchetto “rp-pppoe”, esso è già presente con interfaccia grafica (quando me ne sono accorto, lo avevo già scaricato, comunque non l’ ho installato), però almeno nel mio caso, creando la connessione, la stessa non si avvia.

Ho provato allora a seguire il sistema che conosco, cioè da terminale, ma la procedura non si avvia (pppoe-setup), perchè non è presente “ppp-2.3.10”; ho quindi scaricato il pacchetto (.tar.gz), ma non mi riesce d’ installarlo, allego l’ output.

Per quanto riguarda i problemi audio/video, “Cheese” funziona, ovvero sono riuscito a registrare un video, però è muto; anche “Audacity” non registra niente; ti allego due output che forse contengono dati che possono farti comodo, a proposito della scheda audio e della scheda madre.

Ti racconto:

– A proposito dei comandi di Grub (“Esc” & Co.), ne avevo proprio dimenticato l’esistenza; da quando ho impostato Grub con schermata fissa, non ci smanetto più; e per dirla tutta, non ho mai avuto la necessità di approfondire la sua conoscenza.

Apposta ero perplesso quando ho letto le tue indicazioni e comunque, sia agendo da terminale che da schermata di avvio, non si apre niente; forse dipende da come ho settato il programma, ma non importa, andiamo avanti:

– Mi ha fatto sorridere assai il fatto che il link che mi hai indicato riconduce a Mepis, sai perchè ? Perchè ho scoperto Mepis ed OpenMamba (lo scrivo con le maiuscole perchè mi piace di più, non posso scrivere in nero e verde 🙂 più o meno in contemporanea !

La domenica mi lascia un po’ di tempo in più a disposizione, così dopo essermi armato di super tazza di caffè (American style, farà inorridire ma lontano dall’ Italia, meglio scordarsi l’espresso), mi sono messo di punta per risolvere e, ci sono riuscito: adesso OpenMamba è perfettamente attiva, anche se ancora devo completare la configurazione. Evviva !

Procedura seguita: ho analizzato attentamente la formula che mi hai indicato e mi sono accorto che il numero del kernel non era quello che ricordavo di aver letto da qualche parte; ergo, ho seguito questa procedura, da terminale.

Per cominciare:

sudo mkdir /mnt/OpenMamba

sudo mount -t ext3 /dev/sda12 /mnt/openMamba

(In questo modo, si finisce per trovare un file nel quale vi sono tutti i dati; si dovrebbe copiare lo stesso su “menu.lst” dopo averlo “limato” un po’, ma ho voluto prima provare la tua formula e dato che ha funzionato, non ho fatto la controprova); mi è servito per evincere che il numero kernel era effettivamente differente, non 2.6.30 bensì 2.6.28.

Per finire:

sudo umount /dev/sda12

sudo rmdir /mnt/OpenMamba

(Serve per cancellare / smontare il lavoro fatto; certamente lo sai già, specifico nell’ipotesi che possa essere utile a qualcuno).

Ho lanciato Grub usando il terminale dalla distro principale ed ecco cosa è venuto fuori, digitando i comandi suggeriti da Silvan:

grub> root (hd0,11)

grub> kernel (hd0,11)/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.30mamba

Error 15: File not found

grub> ls /boot

Error 27: Unrecognized command

Se antepongo “sudo” ai comandi indicati, la situazione peggiora ulteriormente:

grub> sudo root (hd0,11)

Error 27: Unrecognized command

grub> sudo kernel (hd0,11)/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.30mamba

grub> sudo ls /boot

@ Ercolinux: – Ciao 🙂 Capisco che non è importante, però che sul secondo disco vi sia qualcosa in più oltre ai files che vi ho trasferito io, mi da noia: per caso sai dirmi cosa devo fare per controllare cosa c’ è in dettaglio (se monto il volume, vedo solo le cartelle che ho creato) ed eventualmente eliminare cosa non ci dovrebbe essere ?

A parte questo, purtroppo anche la formula che mi hai indicato non va (sigh !).

(Ho applicato alla lettera, tranne che per un dettaglio probabilmente dovuto ad una distrazione: che io sappia, si scrive “initrd” e non “inird”; ovviamente, ho provato anche la versione con “inird”).

@ Silvan: – Ciao 🙂 Chiedo scusa per l’ incompetenza, ma non conosco i comandi per accedere alla console di Grub 🙁

OpenMamba è installato con filesystem “ext3”. (Le varie distro installate sono su “ext3”, “ext4” e “reiserfs”; quindi possiamo star sicuri che son tutti supportati.

Vedo che trovare la soluzione è più arduo di quanto pensassi; non desidero dare distrurbo, se per caso l’argomento vi viene a noia, lasciamo perdere.

(Non capisco i dati afferenti a /dev/sdb1: si tratta del secondo disco, formattato in “Fat32” ed usato esclusivamente come archivio. Che c’entra col “boot” ?).

L’ avviamento / scelta distro si compie tramite il Grub installato con Mint 7, la quale è posizionata su /dev/sda15.

@ Silvan: – Ciao 🙂 purtroppo non va, viene “fuori errore 15”. Comunque, quel poco di esperienza che ho acquisito mi dice che tutto sta ad indovinare la formula giusta; quella che uso io di base, ovvero:

kernel /boot/vmlinuz ro root=/dev/sda”x” (“x”= nr. reale part. root)

si è rivelata vincente per Slackware e derivate.

Le altre (vedi Grub menu.lst), richiedono una formula specifica; dopo aver fatto diversi tentativi infruttuosi, ho ottenuto quella giusta grazie al prezioso e gentile aiuto ricevuto dai vari Forum di competenza. Ciao 🙂

Ciao Ercole,

Grazie per la tua gentile e pronta risposta; ho seguito le istruzioni ma non va, Grub restituisce questo messaggio:

“Error 12: invalid device requested press any key to continue”

Ti racconto che dopo aver utilizzato la procedura di ripristino del boot loader dalla “live”, confermando l’ installazione su /dev/sda12 (che è la partizione ove è installata OpenMamba), ho modificato il menu.list del mio Grub in questo modo:

Ho anche provato cambiando “hd0,11” con “hd0,12” ma nulla è cambiato (di nuovo errore 12);

aggiungo che sebbene abbia spuntato l’ apposita casella nel profilo, non ho ricevuto l’ e-mail di avviso per la tua replica.

Mi è anche venuto un dubbio, vedendo la voce “chainloader+1”: non è che per caso questa formula è valida quando c’è di mezzo Windows ? Sulla macchina in questione, sono installate dieci distro, ma sono tutte Linux 🙂
