A new Raspberry PI hope coming?

Hi there. I'm exited and happy to see a OS that is officially declared as dead, living and and looks cool also! After some playing with the rolling flavors I decided to give the Raspberry Pi image a chance. First of all this command "gunzip" is totally new to me although I am a long time Linux user now, and it did not work! The first time I waited like 2-3 hours and then I stopped it, the card was looking good but when I booted I got kernel panic. Alright the second time I waited 12 hours, stopped the process again and guess what - kernel panic again! I was thinking to give up but then I thought why not do it the old fashion way - extract the "tmp.38eOLFI9YX" from the archive, dd it the card and wholia, it worked like a charm! I didn't play too much with it but I was in shock when I noticed that the cursor theme is transparent, not only that but this cannot be changed since no other cursor theme is installed. A really strange choice, maybe a good one for touchscreens but then again LXDE is not the best choice for touchscreens, at least not with it's default openbox theme. My question is - can I help in some way? I really like the idea of a independent OS to be ported to the Pi, and not only. It needs some polish and maybe some more choice and friendliness for the end user. All in all, very good work!

Calamares

There is a Distribution independent Installer-Framework, called Calamares, which already reach Version 1.0. It get developed by a payed Developer from Bluesystems, called Teo, together with some Volunteers and use Qt5. Calamares support UEFI (in KaOS), GPT, Locales, automatic Partitioning and a lot of Distros already use port it, like: Chakra, KaOS, Manjaro, Netrunner, OpenMandriva/ROSA, MauiOS, Kubuntu and BBQ Linux. (There are more, who show Interest.) Aborted installation Openmamba 64bit

Im trying to install Openmamba 64 bit in a Gateway NV76R with Windows 8 installed. Im using a new hard drive with 250Gb space unallocated. I did what Openmamba Wizard installation told, a partition for Openmamba and another partition 8Gb LinuxSwap. At the 75% installation Openmamba stop saying "Aborted Installation" I attached some photos to show the error. Also I attached a photo with my laptop specifications.

Can't download 2.0-pre4

Hi,

I am unable to download openmamba-livecd-en-milestone2-2.0pre4.i586.iso. It does not download past 20MB, usually less, and my browser reports it as complete. I have tried in Firfox 3.5, Chrome, and Kget, and none can complete the download, and none report an error. However, upon initially starting the downloading, it reports the correct size of the download.

Problem booting in VirtualBox after install

Ah, it feels good to be back after my long absence :-)

Anyway, this is in Oracle VirtualBox 3.2.6 with 1GB RAM and 64MB Video RAM and 3D acceleration enabled.

Milestone 2 pre2 doesn't boot after install (it just hangs at the bootsplash), though Live CD mode works. I have tried with IO APIC both on and off. I am in the process of downloading the weekly snapshot.

Cleanly upgrade to devel from stable

Is there a way to upgrade from the latest stable (1.1 milestone 1) to the development version cleanly (as in, it will work)? I want to know so I can start packaging for openmamba.

wineasio package in devel

Hi. This is a minor thing, because it's a package that not many people use, I'm sure, but it is one of the things that attracted me to openmamba. I use Reaper with wine and wineasio and RT kernel for recording music, and openmamba comes with the RT kernel, a bunch of great music apps that aren't usually part of many distros (jack-azr3, for instance) and also had the latest wineasio packaged, (and latest KDE, which is a big plus). In short, openmamba has everything I'm looking for in a distro, prepackaged and ready to go.

I used the weekly build from about a week ago, and installed wineasio and Reaper. Wineasio registers correctly with the regsvr32 wineasio.dll command, but only after complaining about some alsa related files. Reaper sees wineasio as a driver option, but when i try to use it I get errors that the sound device can not be accessed. I've made sure alsa is selected as the audio driver in winecfg (as is required for wineasio). Any ideas about what is happening here?

Alternative desktops

First of all I would like to say that I think that the openmamba desktop environment looks great. However some of my computers would probably work better with a "lighter" desktop environment (e.g. lxde) so I would like to try to create a "remaster" that has a more lightweight desktop.

Has anyone already created openmamba remasters having alternative desktops?

Do openmamba define/support any specifc remaster process that would help me do this or do I need to find out myself how this should be done?

Username and Password for Flash-1GB

I have downloaded the latest Flash-1GB, installed it on a USB stick.

It boots properly, but then a login dialog is presented and I do not know what username and and password to provide in order to continue the startup.

What username and password should I use? I have tried to find this information on the website and on the USB stick but have not found anything.

I am new to openmamba and I am looking forward to explore it further.
